Permission and Retention Permission the proposal will extend the existing hospital and clinic to provide an additional c.5,445sqm of clinical space. The single storey extensions will be located within the existing central courtyard and to the southern side of the existing hospital building. The proposed extensions will deliver a new catheter lab suite; an extension to the existing operating theatre department; staff changing facilities; a new emergency department; and an expanded intensive care unit. The proposal will also include the retention of an existing car parking area and provision of additional car parking, resulting in a total of 675 no. permanent car parking spaces, along with 76 no. temporary car parking spaces (for a period of 5 years). The proposal also includes 77 no. additional cycle parking spaces. New plant areas (c.1,570sqm) will also be provided at roof level above the proposed extension and beside the existing plant. The proposal will also include the provision of a new ESB substation and generator compound. The development will include landscaping and planting, reprofiling of the levels across the site, a new pedestrian route to the existing gate on the Lucan Road / N4 to provide additional access to the campus, revised vehicular layout across the site and all other associated works and services provision to enable the development.
